I think about elephants a lot. I saw a documentary years ago about the way elephants take time to grieve their fellow elephants who aren't even in their family. maybe even strangers. they stop walking and take a time out. they make deep, sweet sounds as they use their trunks to caress the elephants who have died. so loving. so soulful. I need to hang out with more elephants. until then, I guess i'll just paint them.
