A Word From The Actress...

Being a guest star on a sitcom can kind of make you feel like you're the new kid in school. Or like a dinner guest at a close family get together. Everyone knows each other and everyone has already bonded - complete with inside jokes and groovy memories. The real gift comes when the sitcom family accepts you straight away and makes you feel welcomed. Happily, that's what the cast of "Becker" did.

Alex Desert (Jake) was the first to greet me. He's an easy going, fun guy - I liked him right off the bat. The director, Andy Ackerman, was a name that I saw at the end of sitcom credits for a long time. I always wanted to work with him. When I did my first scene with Ted, Andy called me "a natural." Of course, that made me dig Andy even more.

I was an absolute "Cheers" addict and had many adolescent fantasies of one day meeting, working, and perhaps falling in love and running away to some faraway romantic Island with Ted Danson. I've since out grown some of those feelings (which ones? I'm not sure yet) but, I'm not kidding when I say that he is absolutely one cool guy. Very real, funny, on and off camera and great to talk with. I met his wife, Mary Steenburgen, an awesome actress that I absolutely, totally admire. When Mary complimented my work I think I managed to stammer a "uh...thank you...you too...you're great!" I was so excited that she complimented me that I went into immediate geek-mode. Hey, it happens.

There was a cast party on the set after the first season that myself and some other guest stars attended. I ate edible flowers (Did you know that they were aphrodisiacs? Not that I had an opportunity to explore that theory on the set...I'm just saying...) Anyway, last Christmas they had another party which was a blast! I'm sure you'd like specifics. I could make stuff up, but, I don't want to deceive you. You see, I had a few glasses of wine that night and I only have a vague memory of enjoying myself. Let's see...what else? Oh, this was neat... (for me anyway)... the first episode that I was in, Noam Pitlik was also in. He was a sitcom director in the 70's and 80's. In fact, he directed Ted Danson in my favorite "Taxi" episode (my fav show of all time!). It was the episode where Ted played a jerky, snobby hair dresser who turned Elaine's (Marilu Henner) hair orange. Ted was hilarious under Naom's awesome direction. Noam had some great stories about Hollywood and Hollywood folk and he was a sweetheart to work with. Sadly, Noam passed away recently and the "Becker" episode we did was dedicated to him.

All in all, "Becker" is a great show to work on. Of course, I'd like to work on it more often, so, if you wanna let them know how fantastic it would be to have that Theresa Campbell back on the show...you can email CBS.

Thanks! I'll be sure to dedicate my first Emmy to ya!

Love and Peace,

Annie
